Should They Stay or Should They Go?

Should Mike McCarthy, Ted Thompson and the rest stay in Green Bay to lead us another year?  This seems to be the question on the entire Packer Nation lately.

Halfway through the 2009 season McCarthy’s record sits at .500 for his career as a head coach at Green Bay.  Are people so quick to remember that Ray Rhodes was run out of town for one .500 season in 1999.

McCarthy was also forced to replace almost his entire staff last year and the only thing he seems to have accomplished this year was the firing of a part time maintenance worker who he had a he said she said incident with.

The Special Teams coach Shawn Slocum still has his job which is amazing.  Who hires the assistant to the guy you fired last year? The special teams performance has been pathetic. The opposing teams have been given short fields all season long.

McCarthy seems to not be able to control the team on the field or in the press. The penalties, and the offensive line.  These are all problems people have been screaming about.

Ted Thompson has half of Packer nation mad about Brett Favre still.  Our complaint here is the fact that he refuses to go after free agents and seems to be unwilling to keep our veteran free agents.

I am willing to give Ted Thompson one more year but McCarthy needs to go.  This could be the best year to pick up a veteran head coach that will be able to control the team.  Bill Cowher, Gruden, and Mike Holmgren are available right now.

Thompson has saved enough money by not going after any free agents to cover the remaining portion of McCarthy and his contracts.

Please Mark Murphy fire these two as soon as you can!

Packers Offense, Offensive

The offensive line is just that, offensive.. I say enough with the youth movement and go out and get some proven veterans or else ARod isn’t going to last the entire year. I just don’t understand why Ted Thompson likes to be so far under the cap. I could understand more if he were the [...]

Fantasy Future- Green Bay Packers

Here it folks. After four games, some major revisions have to be made when looking at Packer players for fantasy sit/starts.
Aaron Rodgers- Must start. Rodgers is a top 5 QB talent wise. He will finish in the top 10-12 if nothing changes protection wise. Chad Clifton is expected back in 1-2 weeks. [...]

Right there is the difference

Amassing big yards and moving the ball between the 20s is all well and good statistically. But the game is won in the Red Zone. The Vikings are getting it done, the Packers aren’t.
Adrian Peterson doesn’t get stopped at the 1. On three straight plays, the Packers did.
On fourth down, Donald Lee drops a ball [...]

Favre still has it, but …

Brian Brohm could complete long passes with that much time. No one can cover NFL receivers that long.

Eau Claire Fire Officials Water Down Favre Inferno

According to reports from the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram a bar called the Milwaukee Burger Company had plans to burn Brett Favre Jerseys and memorabilia for next Monday Night’s division rivalry game between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. The bar is almost geocentric to Green Bay and Minneapolis, so they describe the regulars as [...]

Brett Favre Jersey, Still the Number One Seller, Even in Wisconsin

According to September 15th 2009 article in the Wall Street Journal Brett Favre’s Jersey is not only the top seller since April nationally. Unfortunately, in this writers opinion,  it’s still the topseller in Wisconsin.  We here at GBPB’s can only guess it’s the fault of people on the west side of the state.  No matter what people think of [...]

Fan Gives Ochocinco the Finger

From Green Bay Packer Fan: Lifestyle, News, Opinions and Musings

Ok, we haven’t commented on this but some fans seem to think this fan was an ass while others seem to think this guy is a hero.  I am sure someone will be losing their season tickets. This seems reasonable since we taunted the Farve fan at [...]

Lambeau Field Stadium Seats

Okay there are at least 6 games left at Lambeau Field if we are lucky. It’s no secret that the bleacher stadium seating there can be a tight squeeze. When it gets cold the metal seats conduct the icy cold through the layers of your clothing no matter how many you have. At the Packer-Giants NFC Championship [...]

No Call No Show

Greg Jennings? No Catches. None. Zero. Besides killing my fantasy team, the real question is this. Who’s fault is it that he did not touch the ball? AR, McCarthy, or Jennings himself. My thoughts are this: Jennings was drawing double and triple coverage on the majority of obvious passing situations. Why not run a screen [...]
